Haiti in Hollywood
So I know I am focusing of film of the Pre-Code era and how relevant that time period was to our current situation, but this is interesting. Orsen Wells did a production of Macbeth in 1935 which was famous for being set in Haiti.
Here is a bit of Hollywood exploitation of Haiti. The film was entirely filmed in Hollywood, but is supposed to take place in Haiti. White Zombie (1932) is the first ever Zombie film. I know it’s a little creepy to speak about the undead at a time like this, but it is much easier than tackling a horrible tragedy and deep unresolvable pain.
Here is a travel video from the early 1930′s which paints a picture of an exotic, serene location to plan your next
vacation.
Anyway, here’s a link to how to help.
