Happy New Year, Wishing you Dignity, Greatness and Peace.

This is a great clip from “Cavalcade” (1932). It’s a little affected, but the message is quite lovely and moving.

Here’s to the bad part being over, or knowing that at least we have it in us to get thru whatever lies ahead.
Happy 2010. I’m so glad the 00’s are done.

For those of you who are interested “Cavalcade” is a GREAT movie to watch on New Year’s and
I think it especially captures the tone of this rotten decade we have just gone thru. From the 2000 election, 9/11, The Iraq War, Katrina, Bernie Maddoff, Stock Market Crash, Home Forclosures and my general ambivilance to the American Dream this little clip and movie may give you a boost.

Offering a view of English life from New Year’s Eve 1899 through New Year’s Day 1933, the film is presented from the point of view of well-to-do London residents Jane and Robert Marryot. Several historical events serve as background for the film, including the Second Boer War, the death of Queen Victoria, the sinking of the Titanic, and World War I.

This little clip really got to me too. I know it’s kind of cheesy, but I found her speech so lovely and somehow had a genuine tone to it that really struck me. Happy 2010!
