Is anyone else watching Faithless on TCM?
Holy amazing! This film is fantastic!!!!! “Why don’t you kiss me?” that’s what Robert Montgomery says to Tallulah Bankhead after she just returns from turning tricks in the gutter to raise funds to care for her dying husband. Then she has to kiss a crucifix of a police officer after he picks her up for prostitution.
The movie deals with unemployment and unexpected lengths people must go to during times of crisis. There is some some weird dubbing issue with the film though. I wonder if the original sound was destroyed? Robert Osborne??
Tallulah! She was actually beautiful. I just remember her being old and strange. I saw this movie years ago and didn’t get it. It was great to see it again. I wonder if there was a happy ending to the original story it was based on. One thing is for sure, after 1934 she wouldn’t have been forgiven. The landlady was very understanding.
Right? The moment with the landlady was crazy. Just the looks exchanged between the two. Do what you gotta do. So kind and yet you realize what the landlady has been thru and recovered from right away. Did you catch the weird dubbing?
