Secrets of a Secretary

It’s something we all know. Be nice to everyone on the way up, because you never know who might get you on the way down. The new book Game Change really let’s us know from those at the bottom what happened to those at the top when they were at the top and may have some influence as to whether or not they stay there.

Secrets of a Secretary (1931) with Claudette Colbert is a saucy Pre-Code film which reminds us that who may we think we are we may not remain and that what we think we hold dear might be negotiable.

People who used to be on the same side like Conan and Jay and people who are now on the same side like Clinton and Bush with the Hatian Relief effort illustrate how we never know who are allies are.

Secrets of a Secretary the Blog is another little treat. Be careful everyone. The little mouse may run the house.

Go get ‘em Nikki! Only you can fix NBC! If not, watch Ok, America!

So I’m no Nikki Finke. In fact, I don’t do anything remotely close to what she does. That woman works like mad. But let me tell you why I love her. If you want to know what is going on in the entertainment industry NOW, wait how about now…now…how about NOW. She is the go to person.
For example, I thought and news agencies just reported that Conan O’Brien quit the Tonight Show but if you check her site NOW (2 min. afterward) you can see that Conan is refusing to change the time of the Tonight Show! He’s at WAR with NBC!
Go to her site here:Deadline Hollywood

In honor of Ms. Finke I give you the film Okay, America! (1932)

Here’s a quick snippet of a film description:Back in the days when radio jingle singers harmonized words like ba-na-na to a Latin rhythm, the airwaves broadcast ‘tell-all’ shows in which a host like Louella Parsons or Walter Winchell would dish about which celebrity or scion had been caught doing what. The host of Okay, America! is Larry Wayne (Lew Ayres). He writes columns by day, with the help of his gal Friday, Barton (Maureen O’Sullivan), and reports sensational happenings by night over the air. He collects stories about the well-to-do from the cigarette girl at a cafe and a homeless drunk. But he tracks them down, too. His appearance at a night club makes wandering husbands wish they’d never stepped out with that pretty young thing and their wives wish it wasn’t their turn to be humiliated by the next morning’s paper.
